Sarah Smith, MD, is a dermatology resident physician with a passion for general dermatology, skin cancer prevention and treatment, as well as inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne. She is experienced in complex dermatologic conditions involving the skin, hair, and nails and sees patients of all ages. Her formal education and training include:

Dr. Smith has a strong academic and research background, with peer-reviewed publications in journals including Dermatologic Surgery, JAAD International, JAAD Case Reports, Clinical Diabetes, Microorganisms, and Cureus. Her scholarly work spans medical dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs micrographic surgery, autoimmune and inflammatory skin disease, and translational research. She has presented her research nationally and internationally at meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), International Society of Dermatopathology (ISD), and Mayo Clinic Excellence Day.
Committed to service and health equity, Dr. Smith has extensive experience working with underserved populations and global health initiatives. She is an underserved health pathway scholar and has participated in international dermatology training through the Regional Dermatology Training Centre in Moshi, Tanzania. She has also been actively involved in healthcare advocacy through the Arizona Medical Association.
Dr. Smith is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) and holds memberships in the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) and Phoenix Dermatologic Society (PDS).
In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys outdoor recreation, including trail running, skiing, boating, and backpacking, spending time with friends and family, traveling locally throughout Arizona and internationally, and attempting various DIY projects.
