Dr. Erin Gilbert Adams is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and brings a unique depth of clinical expertise and leadership to her practice. She has a specific interest in treating conditions such as skin cancer, age-related skin changes, acne, and women’s health. Her formal education and training include:

- Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Richmond, VA) – Doctor of Medicine
- Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (Portsmouth, VA) – Transitional Internship
- National Capital Consortium Dermatology Residency (Bethesda, MD) – Dermatology Residency
Dr. Adams is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology (ABD), a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), and a member of many professional societies, including the Association of Military Dermatologists (AMD), Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS), and the Virginia Dermatological Society (VDS), among others. She has held numerous leadership and academic roles, including chief resident during her dermatology training and associate professor of dermatology at both Virginia Commonwealth University and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Adams was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha (ΑΩΑ) in recognition of her academic excellence and leadership.
She has a strong military background with 12 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, including deployments and humanitarian missions. She served an additional 13 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves and retired from the U.S. Navy in September 2023 after 25 years of service. In addition, Dr. Adams has been a consultant for the White House Medical Unit.
Throughout her career, she has contributed to dermatologic research with publications in peer-reviewed journals and participated in national committees and community outreach programs focused on skin cancer prevention and education. She is actively involved in volunteer initiatives, including conducting community skin cancer screenings, lecturing to community organizations, and delivering dermatologic care at a local free clinic. Additionally, she is annually recognized for her outstanding expertise and patient care.
In her spare time, Dr. Adams enjoys activities with her husband and two children, practicing Pilates, walking, reading books, learning about health, wellness, and functional/longevity medicine, and traveling.
